OAGS 7TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA, 2015
 
The Organisation of African Geological Surveys (OAGS) held its 7th Annual Meeting from 9 February 2015 in the beautiful city of Cape Town. The meeting had been co-hosted by the Council for Geoscience in South Africa.
 
Her Excellency, Mrs Fatima Haram Acyl, Commissioner for Trade and Industry, African Union, opened the meeting with a heartfelt welcome to all African Geological Surveys represented at the meeting and thanked them for the work that is currently being done.
 
The meeting was also attended by members of EuroGeoSurvey, with the aim of adopting the final draft of the Pan- African project, the EGS-OAGS Partnership. Presentations and discussions took place on the Seismotectonic Map of Africa, the Role of Geological Surveys in supporting Small-Scale Mining in Africa and the 35th IGC to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2016.
 
A full day was dedicated to an OAGS/EGS workshop on the role of the EGS in assisting the OAGS and its members to increase geoscience knowledge for the benefit of African countries. .
